NEW GM SCREEN ARTWORK SHARING SHOWDOWN
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 10, 2021 at 04:18:18 AM

Greetings Adventurers!

One of our early stretch goals was for the creation of an all new piece of artwork for the Iron Kingdoms: Requiem GM screen, and we want YOU to be involved in determining what the final image will be. So, we’ve been conducting an experiment in crowd-sourced art direction! And since you adventurers may spend a lot of time staring at this image, we think it’s a pretty important decision for you to take part in!

Early on, we saw suggestions that rather than just creating art for the center panel as originally planned, we should do something totally epic that wraps across all four panels. After a quick discussion with our art department, we determined that was absolutely the best way to go, so we’re already off to a great start thanks to your feedback!

In update #11 we asked for your suggestions for what sort of image you’d like to see on the GM screen.  We received tons of wonderful, carefully thought out and beautifully described ideas. After combing through all of this inspiration, we distilled the suggestions down into three simple art descriptions, which Privateer Art Director Mike Vaillancourt then sent over to one of our most favorite artists in the world, the amazingly talented Carlos Cabrera (who also happened to paint the cover of the Legend of the Witchfire Adventure).

Carlos produced three quick thumbnail sketches to get an idea of how these images might be composed, which you can see below with their associated description:

BIG TROUBLE IN THE UNDERCITY

An adventuring party in the Undercity of Corvis. On one side, they’re threatened by a group of Infernalist cultists. On the other side, an infernal gate has opened to unleash horrors upon the party. In the distant background, Alexia’s silhouette can be seen, brandishing the Witchfire.

SHADOW OF THE DRAGONFATHER

An adventuring party trekking through ancient Orgoth ruins. Looming above them is Toruk, the Dragonfather. On one side, an Ironlich closes in, weaving dark magic spells. while an escort of Satyxis warriors guards him. On the other, a shambling horde of mechanithralls charge forward.

GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE

This is a non-combat scene, featuring an adventuring party readying for their next adventure. An arcane mechanik repairs or tunes a steamjack. A gunmage loads rune shots into a magelock pistol. An alchemist brews potions with an elaborate chemistry set. A trollkin fellcaller sings. An infernalist attempts to secretly invoke dark magic. A Menite cleric prays to the Lawgiver.

Now that we’ve got three great options for what may adorn the GM Screen, the next step is for you as a community to decide which one Carlos is going to paint, and in the process, we may just bring a few more eyes to this project and open some more stretch goals along the way.

Beneath your favorite image above, click on the link for your social media channel of choice, and then share or retweet the post it takes you to. The image that gets the most combined shares, retweets and likes across all channels by the time this campaign ends will be the one Carlos moves forward with to create the new Iron Kingdoms: Requiem GM Screen.

And once again, thank you for your support and for sharing this project!

Greetings Adventurers!

The Iron Kingdoms: Requiem campaign has crested $465k, unlocking additional content that will be added to the Random Encounters PDF, giving GMs even more tools to ensure adventuring parties never have a dull moment.

At $475k, we’ll unlock even more Legendary Magic items! It won’t be long now…

Thank you for your amazing support and for continuing to share this project far and wide. Much more to come!

WITCHWOOD UNLEASHED!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Feb 09, 2021 at 12:59:42 PM

Greetings Adventurers!

Your incredible support has brought over $445k in funding to the Iron Kingdoms: Requiem project, unleashing the treacherous Witchwood into the pages of the Monsternomicon. Be wary of the Witchwood’s gift, Adventurers, and taste not of its wicked fruit!

Up next at $455k, we’ll create more hooks for the Adventure Hooks PDF!

Now, it’s time for us to come clean. Everyone hopes to have a runaway Kickstarter campaign, but there’s only so much you can wish for, much less plan for. We couldn’t be happier for how this campaign launched and for what it has already achieved, and the fact that we’ve still got some big days ahead means this is going to be our most successful project to date. For this, we thank you from the bottom of our collective, piratey hearts. Which is why we have to confess that we only planned stretch goals through $515k prior to the launch of the campaign.

How could we be so short sighted? Well, we actually thought it was kind of ambitious and that realistically we might come close, but only if things went really well would we achieve all of our goals. It’s not the first time we underestimated the allure of the Witchfire…

But don’t worry! We think fast on our feet and we have conceived of several more stretch goals because we want to keep this adventuring party going! However, as we close in on the final bell, we’re going to pull back just how many goals we’re previewing to save you from any remorse of falling short. Because nothing about this campaign has fallen short — it’s been amazing! And we have YOU to thank for it.

More to come soon!

MORE ADVENTURE HOOKS UNLOCKED!

Greetings Adventurers!

Your incredible support has taken the Iron Kingdoms: Requiem campaign past $455k, unlocking more content that will be added to the Adventure Hooks PDF document.

Not too far ahead, at $465k, we will similarly expand that Random Encounters PDF, ensuring that GMs will have myriad tools at their disposal to keep adventurers on their toes!

Much more to come in this final week of the campaign.

Thank you for your continued support!
